Strawberry

How to select: 

Select strawberries that are plump and firm and bright red in color. Avoid any that are pale red or have white or green flesh close to the stem. Spots or other blemishes on the berries usually indicates that the berries or over-ripe. Hey should be firm, but not too hard. There should be a slight give when gently squeezed.

Medicinal uses: 
  • Strawberries contain salicylic acid, an anti-inflammatory that reduces inflammation in the intestines, helping to curb symptoms related to Crohn's disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
  • Strawberries are high in iodine which helps to normalize thyroid functioning.
