Plum

How to select: 

Color is not a good determiner for ripeness since there are many varieties with many different shades of red and violet. A plum is ripe when the flesh yields with gentle pressure. They should have a lucious, sweet fragrance. Plums will ripen at home, but do not select any that are too hard because they many never properly ripen. Also, plums that are overripe will be mushy.
